Mahoning Township, PA (February 1, 2026) – Authorities are investigating a serious head‑on collision that occurred Saturday afternoon, January 31, 2026, along the 2800 block of E. Blakeslee Boulevard (Route 443) near the entrance to 443 Auto Sales in Carbon County.
According to the Carbon County Coroner’s Office, the crash involved a passenger vehicle and a stake‑body truck. The force of the impact pushed the car into a nearby commercial parking area, where it came to rest against a snowbank. The truck came to a stop across the roadway. Deputy Coroner Erika Reinheimer pronounced the female driver of the car deceased at the scene at approximately 4:00 p.m.
A male passenger in the vehicle suffered severe injuries and was trapped inside the wreckage. Members of the Mahoning Valley Fire Company performed an extrication before the man was treated by Lehighton paramedics and Mahoning Valley ambulance personnel. He was later transported to a regional trauma center for further care. Information regarding the condition of the truck driver has not yet been released.
The Pennsylvania State Police at the Lehighton Station, along with the Carbon County District Attorney’s Office, are conducting a joint investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
